Germany

Chardonnay is dead, long live the Riesling is the resounding message heard with increasing frequency from wine journalists all over the world.

German wine is the ultimate cool climate wine and successful production in this northerly region depends upon finding sufficient exposure to achieve ripeness. Riesling is known to reflect the character of the vineyard extremely well and express the minerality perfectly. It also produces wines with exciting vibrant fruit characteristics and refreshing acidity.

What German wines require is prudent vineyard management with minimum intervention in the winery. Labels must be simple and easy to understand. We found all these with Martin Tesch.
